Drowned Rat

I feel like a drowned rat! It rained so much today, and that rain turned into slushy snow. Just what we need at the end of May...

Well, here are some awesome tattoos! I'm going to be tattooing a few more people each week so I can get enough practice, then Dana says I should be ready to take real clients by July! That is so soon! I think I can do it, that will give me tons of practice. Plus I know so many people that want so many different things. I am so grateful to have friends that are willing to let me practice on them.

I also got my first big order of ink in today! Only a few small bottles, and when you look at them you think, "And how the hell does this add up to $300!?". Yeah. Now you wonder why tattoos aren't cheap, people!

Anyway, here are the pictures!

Zombie Tubby Dog logo! Probably one of my favorites so far!
(This guy really loves to eat there!)

The End

Last night was a hard night.
Last night was emotional.
Last night was the end of Lost.

If you haven't already guessed, Lost is my favorite show of ALL TIME. No other show has made me feel or think the way this one does, and I doubt any other show ever will. Lost has done things and has ventured to places no one else has dared to do or go. The characters have almost become real people in my eyes, and I am sure for most of the Lost fan base.

The show has been running for six years, airing it's Pilot episode on September 22, 2004. At this time I have heard of the show, however I did not start watching it until about 3 years ago (when season 3 was about to air). My brother burned the first 2 seasons on disc for my mom and I to watch, and we got hooked. We would watch 3-5 episodes before going to bed in order to catch up before the next season launched. We could not believe how intense the show would get. We would constantly pitch theories to each other, and we would discuss what we think the outcome would be. I am really going to miss that. Not to mention just getting pumped for a new episode every week, painfully anticipating answers and even some new questions. And let me tell you, there are SO many questions that I doubt a good handful will be able to be answered. Although, the writers have a knack for answering things in a swift and diligent way, then they move onto the next question and answer that one. So basically every episode is an information overload.

After the finale, I was a complete mess, I'm not even going to lie. It might be kind of weird to say, but I sort of feel empty now that it's over. Almost as though I feel like I need the island, just as the characters did in the show. There is this sort of gravitational pull that this imaginary place has that really makes you wish there were someplace like it in real life. Even if it was full of death and misery, there was also life and a mystery to it. Basically like reality and life itself. I guess I could just live in the tropical forest of Oahu, but it wouldn't really be the same.

There are still so many things I want to know! But I know that they will never be answered, which is fine. When I watch the show again there will still be that lingering mystery that they left for us to figure out on our own. That was what made the show so alluring. But I'm not going to talk about the finale anymore because a) I don't want to spoil anything for anybody, and b) I might start crying again. In fact I'm just going to stop here.

As Desmond Hume would say, See you in another life, Brother.
Or as the Dharma Initiative would say, Namaste.

Falling Behind

I have been way too lazy to upload pictures from my camera lately, but I finally got around to it.

Here are a couple of new tattoos that I have done the past few weeks, including some done on my mentor! She trusted me enough to tattoo her knuckles, twice! They turned out really well, considering how nervous I was to do them. We are probably going to add some more, but one can only take so much pain in one day, especially if you have to use those hands to work as a tattoo artist!

Dana making good use of her new tattoo.

We might put a heart around the butterfly to finish it off.

Skinny Puppy logo on my friend Sarah. This one was tricky but fun!

OH! Remember this movie!?

Well, I don't know about you, but when I find things that I used to love in my childhood I become ecstatic. Today, Troy and I were shopping around in HMV, and what I was really looking for was not there (The Brave Little Toaster. The little bugger is so hard to find!), but what I did find was the next best thing. The Land Before Time. Now, to some of you, this may not be too exciting, considering there are what, like 15 of them? I will always have a special place in my heart for this movie, because it is the first movie I have ever seen. Of course this was back when I was a year old, if that. But your first movie is still, and will always be, your first movie. And it was only $15. Had to have it!

After finding that movie, I started looking for the next hidden gem. The Rescuers Down Under!? Yes please! Then Troy held up another, "What about this one?". The Last Unicorn!! BINGO! (I watched that one every time I went to visit my Grandma). And last but not least, Fern Gully. Yes, that would be the one that Avatar ripped off. When I was at the till paying for my bundle of childhood faves, the clerk suckered me into buying Jurassic Park for $5. They sure know one way to my heart.

There are SO many more that I could find, but I had to stop before I went mental over all the good movies. And yes, I did find them all in the family movie section. It's a good place to look if you want to go down memory lane! But of course there are other movies that could bring me way back (but that most people probably didn't watch as a kid..), like Predator, Aliens, or Terminator 2, to name a few. You could blame that on the fact that I have an older brother, but I like to think that movies like that helped shape me into the person I am today. No romantic comedies for me, thank you very much! Monsters and destruction? Bring it on!

Mother's Day

Yesterday was Mother's Day! So Happy Mom's Day to all you mothers.

I had to do a last minute painting for my mom, because my original plan did not work out. I have been trying so hard to get tickets for David Gray, whom my mom LOVES, but they have been consistently sold out since March. It would have been so perfect! I think I am more upset about it than she is though, so I think I can just let it go...

Anyway, So I showed my mom how to make a playlist on iTunes, and I will take her out for dinner on friday since I had to work yesterday. I think she had a good and relaxing day. Here is a picture of the painting I did for her. She likes things that have to do with birds, and she seems to use magpies a lot in her artwork, so I thought it would be a cool theme. I kind of wanted to keep it for myself!

Love you Mom!!

Killing time

Today is much, much nicer outside than it has been for the past couple of days. Too bad I will be stuck in a basement with no windows for the rest of the day!

I am currently sitting with my stubborn hair in curlers, cutting it pretty close to departure time for work. So while I'm waiting, I will post an updated version of Sarah's candy thigh piece! It's coming along nicely. But she doesn't hold color all that well, so there will definitely be some touch ups to do.

Whoops! Time to go to work!!

May the 4th be with you

You have got to love the weather here, one day it will be nice and springy and sunny, and the next will be like winter. And today is really not how I pictured my day off..

However! I did start playing Zelda: the Windwaker again last night. Last time I played that game was when it first came out, but halfway through my file got lost. So we are now reunited, as happy as can be! That should give me something to do today.

On another note, I have another addition to the tattoo gallery! It's on Troy's wrist, and it means 'Finland', since he's from Finland and all. He decided to leave it with just the outline, but it looks pretty metal!

ps: May the 4th be with you
